Depuis la rentrée 2023-2024 le programme Grande Ecole de l’ESSEC a conduit une réforme des projets de recherche menés par les étudiants sous la direction d’un professeur chercheur, communément appelés en interne “UV de recherche”.

A quelques jours du démarrage des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024, le professeur Thierry Lardinoit présente le nouveau Bachelor Hepta (Hautes Etudes Pluridisciplinaire pour Top Athlètes). Il revient notamment sur les enjeux du programme, ainsi que ses objectifs. Le programme Hepta, spécialement conçu pour les sportifs de haut niveau poursuivant des études accueillera ses premiers étudiants à la rentrée 2024.

The Three Rs of Science: Relevance, Rigor, and Reach

In this article, Prof. François Longin and Prof. Adrian Zicari explain how they deal with the three Rs of science – Relevance, Rigor, and Reach – in their research on corporate social responsibility (CSR).

A perennial tension

Ivory towers. Byzantine discussions. Detachment from reality. How often we have heard (or pronounced ourselves!) such harsh comments about research. This tension between rigor and relevance is not new, and it will most possibly continue in the future. It is part of our lives as researchers, as educators, as citizens. It has also been reflected by the arts. For instance, Jorge Luis Borges, in his short tale “Rigor in Science” presents the story of the rigorous cartographers who wanted to achieve a perfect map of their country. So accurate that map it was, so big it was, that it ended up being the size of the country it intended to represent. Such unserviceable map was rapidly forgotten and destroyed. Thus, cartographer’s fervor for scientific rigor led to the dismissal of cartography.

New ESSEC MOOC “Basics of entrepreneurship: thinking and doing”

The new MOOC “Basics of entrepreneurship: thinking and doing” is now open to registration.

This MOOC has been developed by Jan Lepoutre, ESSEC Professor and Academic Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the K-lab’s Instructional Design Hub.

About the MOOC

Having entrepreneurial skills is beneficial for everyone, whether in your personal or professional life. Entrepreneurship is not just about starting your own business, it is a mindset that pushes you to see opportunities where others only see challenges and to know how to manage risk and uncertainty.

Développer ses compétences informationnelles et numériques avec le K-lab

Lieu de partage, de diffusion des savoirs, et acteur clé de la transformation digitale, le K-lab accompagne depuis 2015 la Communauté ESSEC en étant à la fois service « support » mais aussi en développant de nouveaux projets, de nouveaux outils et contenus pour la pédagogie et la recherche. Dans un souci de transmission, le service a toujours porté un intérêt particulier à la formation de ses utilisateurs.
C’est d’autant plus vrai que le K-lab peut s’appuyer sur une équipe d’experts capable de mettre à disposition des compétences et des savoir-faire sur de nombreux sujets.
